Derek Farrar's Obituary

It is with great sadness that the Northern Border Fancy Canary Club, and High Spen and District CBS reports the death of long standing member Derek Farrar. Derek was for many years the chairman of the Northern Border FCC,

He attended meetings of all of the local clubs was a great supporter of the Border Canary in the North East. He was a very well respected panel judge and judged at almost all of the Border Specialist shows and numerous C.B.S. over the years. He was very highly thought of by fanciers throughout the British Isles. Derek first exhibited Border Canaries in the 1960’s and has supported the Border Fancy tirelessly ever since, either by exhibiting, judging or stewarding.

Derek had many friends in the fancy and they will no doubt be sad to hear of his passing. I know the fancy will be poorer for the loss of his birds, his experience and his presence.

He will be greatly missed by his wife Betty, his family, and all of his friends throughout the Border World.
