Hugh Wakely's Obituary

Hugh Wakely

It is with great sadness the W.B.F.C.C. report the passing of Hugh Wakely a long standing member and border canary fancier.

He was a true gentleman and family man, anyone who knew him personally, or friend on face book could see how close he was to his children and grandchildren .

Although Hughie knew he was not well he did not want to spoil the celebration of the clubs Centenary show.

His wish to show birds and attend the show unfortunately did not completely materialize, his birds were entered and shown, but Hughie passed away a few days before the show.

I can assure you he was with us all in our thoughts .

Our sincere condolences go out to the family.

So sad to hear the passing of a good friend over many years. He was a great competitor and I have many wonderful memories regarding our competition against each other . Hughie was a great sportsman and would always shake your hand immaterial of the results. He was loved and much appreciated by everyone in the Border canary fancy, I personally will never forget our happy times together when competing on the show bench.
He is going to be missed by many people especially his wife' children and his much admired Grandchildren.
I was very fortunate to have know a honest, loyal and devoted man who I will remember for the rest of my life .
Thanks Hughie and God bless .

I just want to say how deeply saddened I ‘am on the loss of my great friend, I was proud to call him my best friend and I will miss him very much. We have lost one of the kindest gentlemen I have ever had the privilege to know and I’m feeling the pain and sorrow at this difficult time that Hugh’s wife Monica also his Children Jan and Mike are going through.

When Hugh became unwell and unable to look after the birds he kindly gave me his best stock so each and every time I go into the bird shed I still have great memories of my best friend, although I will miss his Sunday morning visits where we would discuss the breeding season in the hope of breeding that cracking bird and then what shows we would be entering later in the year.

We have many people in our lives family, neighbours and friends but no one knows us quite as well or shares our deepest secrets like a life-long friend.
God Bless
